A Full-Circle Clarify Story

One of my favorite stories comes from a former Clarify student who attended my live workshop back in 8th grade. Years later, I had the joy of walking alongside her again—this time as her premarital counselor and even the one who officiated her wedding!

We still talk openly about sex, relationships, and communication today. It’s a powerful reminder that when we start these conversations early—with honesty, care, and respect—they can grow into lifelong trust and connection.

Life After Clarify

What former Clarify Workshop Kids say about Clarify now that they are Adults

As a teenager, almost all of the societal messages I was exposed to about puberty and sexual development were associated with taboo, shame, and self-consciousness. This workshop was one of the only counter messages - helping me to craft a positive, empowering narrative about sexual development. The sexuality workshop created a mutual language that my parents and I could both access to talk about puberty and sex. Afterwards, I was relieved that they knew that I knew about sexual development. Those topics are often so shrouded in shame, but this workshop created common ground for those discussions going forward."

Dr. Morgan Greenwood - age 28

"The sex education curriculum at public school is completely inadequate at helping young adults navigate puberty, intimate relationships and body insecurities. This workshop opens up a world beyond anatomy, and into one of true humanity. For myself, the medicine was simply having a place to speak openly about these topics. "

 Ethan Hill - age 27

"As a kid, you hear so much about sex and puberty from outside sources and it is difficult to decipher what is accurate and true. Claire's workshop gave me the foundational knowledge and demystified the topics so I was better equipped to navigate my own development and make decisions grounded in this knowledge- not what I was hearing from friends or online. The workshop made these topics less taboo and scary, making me more confident and comfortable with my changing body and sexuality. I am now a social worker with youth and families and am often having similar conversations around puberty and sex with my clients. I always loved talking and learning from Claire growing up because she was authentic, empathetic, and nonjudgmental- all qualities I try to model in my own practice with youth. Now that I am on the other side of the sex talk, I am grateful to have this experience to model off of. I frequently recommend Claire's guide as a resource for parents and new clinicians who are struggling with how to have conversations around sex and puberty with kids."

 Emily Rogers- age 26

"Many kids in religious spaces are told not to talk about sex. They are taught that it’s a dirty word and topic, or they are fed a very watered down version of the truth. That lack of knowledge can lead to serious self hatred and potentially dangerous behavior. Teaching parents alongside their kids allows for more open communication and understanding. My mom was better equipped to educate me as I got older, and I felt comfortable enough to ask for her help while navigating through puberty, coming out, young-adulthood and now adulthood. As an adult I’m fortunate to not be saddled with the shame associated with sex and sexuality that many of my peers are still struggling to overcome."

Eva Bower- age 25
